Job Title: Content Clearances & Licensing Specialist
Job Summary:
The Marcom Business Affairs role is responsible for maintaining industry relationships and for
securing rights clearances in connection with the marketing of third party, rights-managed
content for Korea. This content is used in global / Korean marketing communications including
on our platform, Retail and Re-Seller marketing, direct marketing emails, social media, pr,
events and advertising.
We are looking for a bilingual and bicultural candidate. In this role, you will have a highly
collaborative attitude and keep communication flowing efficiently to ensure rights are secured
and processes are being followed with regards to licensing, production, clearance, etc. You will
liaise with Producers, Brand Managers and Creatives to understand what the deliverables are,
and how the content will be used, in order to negotiate appropriate usage rights. You will work
closely with other teams within our enterprise, including the Global Business Affairs team, Content
Production, as well as other content business and marketing leads across the organization. You
will also work closely, when necessary, with our legal group in researching trademark and
legal issues, and providing the business context for contract negotiations.

• Partner with a variety of internal Marketing, Services, Legal, Business, and Product stakeholders.
• Review marketing and advertising materials with internal teams to identify intellectual property, flag issues, and propose the appropriate course of action.
• Work with a variety of internal and third-party entities (App developers, Music labels, Entertainment companies, etc) to secure consent and clear rights when featuring their
intellectual property in marketing and advertising, including companies like Content and video related and more.
• Facilitate communication between multiple stakeholders across the organization, providing strategic options to internal teams, and liaising with Legal as needed.
• Maintain effective communication with team leads to ensure information flows properly, action items are clear, and issues are escalated at the right time to the right people.
• Responsible for maintaining detailed documentation and trackers around clearances and licenses at our high standards.
Requirements
• 5-10 years of relevant experience on a business affairs, or content licensing team at a creative agency, marketing organization, content production company, or within the entertainment industry.
• Business-level verbal and written fluency in both Korean and English language.
• Deep subject matter expertise and practical experience negotiating rights, analyzing risk, and developing processes regarding intellectual property licensing/clearances for marketing and advertising use.
• Deep knowledge of current Korean popular culture, trends, and content, (i.e. music/K-Pop, movies, TV shows, animation, theatre, local fashion brands, and local celebrities).
• Deep knowledge and understanding of Apple products and services.
• Expertise in identifying potential legal issues and marketing sensitivities in Korea.
• Solid understanding of KOSCAP, and music licensing issues in Korea.
• Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
• Proactive contributor who can work independently, and collaboratively.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated skills in core areas: concise and clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, sound judgment, innovative approach to problem-solving.
• Self-motivated, flexible, and comfortable navigating rapid change with poise and decorum in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
